Community Guidelines
Bookplate (bookplateapp.com) ยท Last updated July 30, 2026
Bookplate's social side โ visiting friends' Reading Homes, reviews, and comments โ
is meant to feel like a warm bookshop, not a comment section. These guidelines apply
to everything you publish or share with other readers.
Be a good guest
- Talk about books, reading, and your honest reactions โ spicy opinions about a
book are welcome.
- Reviews and comments appear under your shelf name; write like your book club can
see it, because it can.
- Visiting a friend's Reading Home is read-only by design: you can look, not
touch.
Never welcome
- Harassment, hate, or personal attacks โ criticism of a book is fine; going after a
person is not.
- Spam, scams, self-promotion, or flooding reviews/comments.
- Impersonating another person or reader.
- Sexually explicit or violent content outside a genuine discussion of a book.
- Posting someone's private information, or substantial copyrighted text (see the
copyright policy).
- Block โ from a reader's home. Blocking hides that reader from
your Bookplate: you won't see their reviews, comments, home, or friend
requests. It does not currently prevent them from seeing content you've made
public (reviews, or your home if you're discoverable).
- Report โ asks the developer to review content or a reader; every report
is read by a human, and nothing is removed automatically. If a report fails to
send, email bookplateapp@gmail.com
instead.
- Privacy โ your shelf is private by default; you choose whether to be
discoverable, and you choose your friends.
What happens on violations
We reserve the right to remove violating content, issue warnings, restrict social
features, or suspend accounts, depending on severity. Reports are reviewed by a human
(the developer) โ today there is no automated moderation, and enforcement is manual and
may not be immediate.
